In my experience, bondage kits usually are lacking in versatility, comfort, style, value or quality. Although its namesake book lacked several of those qualities, the Fifty Shades of Grey Hard Limits Bed Restraint Kit doesn’t. In fact, for a baby kinkster like me, this kit was exactly what I needed.

Bottom line: While Fifty Shades of Grey Hard Limits Bed Restraint Kit isn’t a Christian Grey-type luxury item, it is wholly capable for almost every beginner restraint’s needs. With its high-quality, just-right pricing and simple, everyday kink styling, it should be right at home in your starter playroom.

While the design of the Fifty Shades of Grey Hard Limits Bed Restraint Kit isn’t world-class, it is simple and elegant-looking. The choice of fabrics for the cuffs and blindfold was a good one: on the outside, a soft black synthetic suede material and on the inside a light grey synthetic satin-like fabric. Although this set probably isn’t up to the design standards of a kinky, rich playboy, for your average baby kinkster, it’s a sophisticated-looking set.
The cuffs are soft and plush-feeling without being bulky. They’re large enough to fit beefy adult men with enough room to be comfortable. Velcro is used to fasten the cuffs, and it’s a much better choice than snaps, buttons or a belt fastener. Once your subject is locked in, they aren’t going anywhere. Once you’re ready for them to be Fifty Shades Freed, they can be removed in less than 30 seconds. The cuffs have a rotating hook on each for comfort and to easily connect them together and to the straps.
The blindfold sits comfortably over the eyes. The dual straps provide a snugger and more secure fit than a single strap. When they’re on your face, you’re in complete darkness and it’s awesome. The lining is quite comfy over your eyes.
The under-bed straps are made from a strong synthetic material. I tend not to use them because I like to put my mattresses on the floor. Yet, in those times where I’ve just got to keep my guy still, they come in handy. They’re easy to install and forget about until you need them. Since they’re just non-descript black straps, you can tuck them between your mattress and box spring. If you must put everything away or want it to travel with you, it’s also easy to stuff all of it in the included storage bag.
This is a really versatile kit. In the few months we’ve been playing around with it, we’ve found about 15 different configurations that my bulky boy can be folded into comfortably and helplessly. With the hooks on the cuffs, anything you can attach them to is fair game.
At $59.99, the pricing is just right for what you’re getting. Separately, the blindfold easily would price at $25 and the cuffs at $50. It’s just smart to get it all together for a lower price.
Turn offs:
Although the Fifty Shades of Grey Hard Limits Bed Restraint Kit is put together very well, I expected a seam or strap to break. While those still remained intact, during one vigorous ticking session, Bubby was able to bend the hook on one of the cuffs keeping his legs still. Since both cuffs have a clip and the straps have little key rings, this didn’t render the cuffs useless, luckily. Even still, you may have to invest in a stronger chain if your play partner is often confused for a linebacker.
